History
Yorùbá students, professionals and families have come to Britain since the colonial era. Many arrived after Nigerian independence in 1960, and south-east London, especially Peckham, became known for its Yorùbá shops, churches and mosques.
Community Life
TYF United Kingdom runs members’ meet-ups, campaigns and cultural events from its London office, and connects British-born Yorùbá with their heritage.
Language and Culture
Saturday schools, churches, mosques and social clubs keep the language alive for children born in the UK.
