The Guardian reported a statement signed by TYF President Oladimeji Bolarinwa and Secretary Bukola Adeniji, urging the National Assembly to reject a proposed federal bill that would extend indigenous rights on the basis of residence or marriage.
TYF argued that the bill would erode the cultural and historical foundations of indigenous peoples and risk ethnic tension, and called instead for the ethnolinguistic restructuring of Nigeria championed by Chief Ọbáfẹ́mi Awólọ́wọ̀.
